The good, the bad and the ugly

The Good: Hubby came home from long business trip - so happy!!!

The Bad: Hubby came home from long business trip - transition back into the "routine" has been a bit hard on everyone.

The Good: We decided to go camping this weekend with hubby's best friend and his son (our Godson). Kids had a great time playing together, weather was great, roasting marshmallows over an open fire - need I say more?

The Bad: We decided to go camping this weekend. Packing, unpacking, sleep deprived kids and parents - need I say more?

The Ugly: Ok, here's where I'm going to get a little naked. Apparently, in "blogese", that means that you write uncensored. Yes, already. It's only my fourth post! Don't take this as an indication of how quickly I'll get naked in other situations...ok? Anyhoo - the ugly is that in a moment of pure exhaustion at the end of the weekend, I lost it with my oldest daughter, who was NOT listening to me, and I screamed at her in a very non "positive discipline" sort of way. I feel like such a crappy Mom when I lose my patience with my kids. I never hit them or anything (although admittedly, sometimes I want to!), but it makes me worried that I'm going to drive them to therapy later in life.

One of the things that keeps me going though, is something that Kate - from Jon & Kate plus 8 (love that show) said on Oprah (love that show) about being a Mom. Whenever you have a bad Mom day, you always wake up the next day with an opportunity to do it differently. I should cut myself a break. After my freak out, she and I took a little nap together - because the heavens were shining on me, and the little one was sleeping too. So, I guess there is forgiveness.

xOMG, I have so been there! Except for the naked part, of course, I'm always fully and fashionably clothed.

But you're so right about the transition part when my husband comes home--I'm excited to see him, but it also throws everything off. I can only imagine how annoying it was for Penelope when Ulysses went away for so long and then came back. Btw, if that's not their names, never mind, ok?

I always hit my kids when they're annoying me. It really keeps 'em in line.

KIDDING!!

I've so been there.... it all works out as long as you work on it... like that quote from Kate. Great advice I think!!

Welcome to blogging! I love the name! Your girls are adorable.
