The first weekend of June, we took a long anticipated trip to a campsite in the Sierra that my husband and I frequented before having kids. The good news is that it was just as beautiful as we remembered. The bad news is that it was not exactly summer weather just yet at that elevation...there was actually snow on the ground near our campground, so we had to cut our trip short. We had a good time though, and can't wait to go back when there is more sun and less rain.
This past weekend, we joined our good friends Scott and Christie, and their adorable son Sawyer for a camping trip on the coast to help celebrate Scott's 40th birthday. The weather was beautiful, the company fantastic and our campsites had a view of the ocean - it doesn't get better than that. Scott and Christie inspired us to get our little camper, and it was great to spend time camping with them again. As a bonus, we were dogsitting for the week. The kids had so much fun camping with "Baker" the chocolate lab. I can't wait until we have a dog in our lives again.
Times like these...are what life is all about.

Kari it looks like you guys had so much fun! I love all the pictures and they sooo make me want to rent a camper and see if we could do it with the Foo. I miss camping! I have never camped anywhere where you could see the ocean - that is a pretty special campsite indeed. And how fun to dogsit a lab...but of course I'm partial! Loved these photos and this post. Hurrah for summer!
Ahhhh....that looks so cool and refreshing. And jackets? OMG! It got hot so fast here this year. It's already 80 freakin' degrees at 7 in the morning.
But you are so right. That is what life is all about. And cookies, which are on their way...
I've never been one for camping - but those pictures may change my mind... So beautiful!
Looks like a lot of fun! It makes me wish I were more of a camping kind of gal!
And my daughter has that same stripey fleece sweatshirt!
We're very excited to let the camping begin, but wow, the weather hasn't been very accomodating has it. Those pictures of the Sierras are beautiful, even if it was cold. And the coast. Aren't we lucky to live where it's so accessible?
Looks like the kids had a great time.
What beautiful places to go camping!
Wow-
Looks like you had such a wonderful time! Again, I don't consider myself much of a camper either, but you're making it look like so much fun! - Enjoy!
I still have vivid memories of camping with my parents.
Glad you all had a good time!
kari, for a second there, you almost made me want to camp. Almost. Then I remembered that I am not a camper. :)
But it looks like you guys had fun, which is all that matters.
Camping makes such great memories! Everyone has big smiles in the photos! Hooray for summer fun!
What fun!!!
You know how to do it - enough ammenities to be comfortable, but basic enough to feel connected to something big. Hallelujah for summer and family time!!
It looks idyllic.
I am not much of a camper, but I do enjoy a tent in the back yard. I am thinking maybe we should try venturing a little further afield.
Your kids look like they are having a blast. I know my kid would have loved to do that. Unfortunately, her princess mother needs a blow dryer and a Hyatt Hotel or it's not going to happen
It's beautiful and looks awesome for kids, but, um, I'll be at the Hyatt with Jessica...I'll come by and pick up my kids in the morning.
Gorgeous photos, but I'm still not coming camping with you.
WOW! That looked like so much fun! I am jealous. Good job on creating the memories Mommy! Thanks for stopping by my blog too. :)
My wife said it. Its been published! I am going to make Kate go camping! The only reason to do this is to torture her. The kids will absolutely love it. Now, I just need to get my gear together. Those pictures are absolutely beautiful.
We've been keeping our eye out for a reasonably priced tent trailer. I really do want to go camping but am not a tenting kind of person. I get creeped out too easily. This looks like so much fun. I too can't wait till we can have a dog again. We lost our sweet boy when I was pregnant with Deaglan. He was just over 11 and sick with Cancer. But I want to wait until our kid (s) are old enough to appreciate it and can help.
Looks like you all had a FANTASTIC time! So.... did you find the Shell Station? *wink*
Great pictures.. You have a very cute family. Hey... I just sent you an e-mail about saving our California Parks. You have to read it and find out that many of our state parks will be closing in the Fall due to our budget crisis. So, I'm a little sad about that.
I admire your ability to camp! We have a two day trip coming up this summer that I am dreading...I keep telling myself that it's for Ben, not for me but who knows...maybe I'll end up loving it.Great photos!
What no laptop this time?
