Mom's Car vs. Dad's Car

A comparison...

My Car:

  • Economical commuter car
  • Ability to hold large volume of groceries
  • Always stocked with wipes, Kleenex, books, toys, snacks, recyclable grocery bags, pens, paper and a potty
  • Spotted with crumbs, half-eaten snacks, random drawings, empty water bottles, wrappers, animal hair, crayons, receipts, kid's jackets, stuffed animals and usually a bag or two of something on it's way to be transported somewhere else

His Car:

  • Fast and Sexy (those are his exact words)
  • Ability to hold multiple sets of golf clubs
  • Always stocked with gum
  • Spotless

Don't get me wrong. I love my Mommy car. I wouldn't have it any other way. And despite what it may sound like, my husband does actually have the kids ride in his car, he just frisks them before getting in to ensure they are not carrying any substances he does not want to see fall in between the seat cracks.

I'm also guest posting today for Christie on A Lil' Welsh Rarebit, while she is enjoying the beach in Florida. But I'm not jealous or anything.

A happy birds day shout out to my good friend Lish, who hit the big 4-0 today!!! Welcome to the club girlfriend, 40 is the new 30! According to Oprah anyway...the foremost expert on everything, don't you know.

My husband asked, "Why is your car such a mess?" My answer, "Hello, we do everything with my car, not yours and I'm tooo frickin' busy keeping the house clean and everything else too worry about A CAR!!!but anytime you want to clean it up knock yourself out buddy" He stopped asking and no more remarks about my car have ever been made, have no idea why?

Hey, pop over to my blog for something special!!!

We share one car so I can't relate but I will say that we have enough cheerios and goldfish on the backseat floor to feed 10 kids.

Cute post Missy.. :) and so true.

Neither of our cars are that great. The one without the carseats (just one booster) is much better than the big filthy truck...but it's still kind of a mess. My husband is messy and neither of us are car people - so it's a bad combo all around.

My husband is always complaining about the condition of my car, which isn't even that bad, and more so the truck I drive to the farm. He jokes that he could bale the hay that's on the floor and seats. If the weather stays warm maybe I'll get to it soon.

We are like Kate, both cars are messy. When I get in my husband's car its always filled with fast food bags and various junk.

It's not fair that the hubbys always get the nice car. I told mine that next time he gets the minivan and I'll take a Jeep Wrangler

I laugh at car commercials aimed at mothers that advertise how many cup holders there are in a particular car. They aren't cup holders...they are crap holders. And I have so, so much crap in my car.

My husband hates when I bring the kids in his car. He seems to find even the smallest crumb. My minivan looks like it was invaded by snack monsters. I'm glad that my minivan is older. I don't think he notices every little scratch.

My husband uses his truck for work, so it is full of all kinds of crazy stuff the kids love to get in to. Mine? Crazy messy but filled with everything we could possibly need.

We do have a classic car that we're not allowed to eat in, but it mostly stays under its cover!

My ex's car looks like he bought it yesterday and yet it was two years ago. Mine is 11 years old and looks every bit of it but it didn't take nearly that long to look like it does.

I have your car and even when I clean it, the very next day it can look as if a tornado went through it, Nic has a truck that is completely spotless and when the kids get in, he cleans it afterwards (like I have time to do that).

My husbands car is the BART. Not so sexy. But, our family car? A mess.

The word "frisk" made me laugh out loud--literally!!!!! Because, I could see him actually doing that!

Happy birthday Lish! I'm right behind you next March...Have a great day!

I'm actually frightened of what lurks on the floor of my car. Some day a small animal is going to scramble out from under the floor mat and bite someone's finger off. It'll have been living off the food and gatorade that's lingering there. It's a mom thing, I guess.

What is it with guys describing cars as sexy? I will NEVER understand that.

Hi Kari - hope all is well, haven't seen you around the Internet lately!

My car is a pit. I have NIPS wrappers all over it. Seriously, the last time Matt drove it they fell out of the car onto the pavement and he was stuck cleaning up NIPS wrappers galore. hahaha!

Hmm, it seems like his car is aimed more toward luxury, while yours is focused more on convenience and function. Well, there's nothing wrong with that. Both cars can switch roles, in any case.
