Seesa has wanted a dog since... well, pretty much from the time she even knew what a dog was. Every time we see someone with a dog, both of my girls immediately have to go over and say hi and love on the dog. They both always tells the dog owner, "we're going to get a dog someday". Someday being the key word. Of course to them, someday is in a few days. To us, someday is in a few years.
When I lost my job last month, a colleague of mine made an offhanded comment at a dinner we were at together. She told me to "resist the urge to get a dog". Which gave me an idea... now that I'm a stay-at-home Mom for a bit, maybe it is a good time to get a dog.
Meet Checkers.
He's a two year old Border Collie / Australian Shepard mix and a total sweetheart. We rescued him, I mean Santa brought him down from the North Pole this past weekend.

I'm over the moon for all of you! I know you used to have a dog you adored, and now your girls have one! Yeah! And double yeah for rescue dogs - we rescued Dublin two years ago and can't imagine getting a dog any other way now! Merry Christmas!!!
Awwwww.....
Not sure who looks happier, the girls or the dog. Merry Christmas!
Checkers looks adorable. Has he started "herding" the girls yet. I find collies hilarious.
Awwww..... it brings a tear to my eye when I see a rescue dog being loved. Look at that happy boy! Look at those happy girls!
Santa is GOOD.
I love it! Kids and dogs. Checkers will soon become the coveted favorite, even over you and D! What a great mix. Good for you. How's the shedding? Hope it's not as bad as Chester!!
I love that you adopted an older dog!! He looks awesome and sounds like he got a great home! Yay Santa!
I'm worried that the dog may not get enough love.
OK, seriously. Do you know how jealous you've made me? Let me know if you ever need any dog sitting. You can charge $20/day, and we will pay it!
Kids and dogs are a wonderful combination and Checkers is a cutie!
I love that she told you to resist the urge to get a dog and then... well, here are the pics! Hilarious!!!
Adorable. And you are brave. And please, please, please do not tell my husband.
Oh he is lovely - that is the best Christmas present! Happy New Year.
