I'm going to DISNEYLAND!!!
(Literally. I'm not kidding.)
The tortuous wait is finally over. I found out today that I am getting laid off from my job at the end of the year. I was prepared for it, but it's bittersweet. After sixteen years at the same firm, it's really surreal to be moving on. I'm lucky to have gotten a severance that will give me some cushion time to find a new job.
In the meantime, I'm looking forward to going to Disneyland in December. Our kids have never been before, so we're really excited. I'm also looking forward to being a stay-at-home Mom for a while, enjoying the holidays with my family, finishing a list of projects around the house (just the list - I may not get to any of the actual projects - haha), writing and generally savoring some time off before I delve into my next adventure in working motherhood...
I'll tell Mickey you said hello!

Severance, time with the kids during the holidays, Disney? Sounds like a pretty good deal, considering the circumstances.
Sorry about that but enjoy your time with the kids! (Oh, and email me if you will have any free time-I live close to Disney! I'd love to see my cab-pal!)
I'm sure in some way it's a relief to know...
Wishing you best of luck with everything.
And Disneyland? I am so jealous!
Have a great time at Disneyland. Enjoy your time at home and only go out and find a job when you relly decide you need one (whether it be for your sanity or your pocketbook).
Awww I'm so glad you finally know what the heck is going on. And that's so great that you get a nice severance. And even better that you get to go to Disney! Yeah!
Now, if my former employer is hiring in your area, I'd love to recommend you. It was one of the best companies to work for (Forbes agreed), so email me and I'll put you in touch with our recruiting department!
At least now you know. And Disney? That sounds wonderful!
I love your famous "silver lining" attitude. I've had to teach myself to live that way and it makes pretty much anything bearable - and sometimes even for the best. I'm sure that this time next year you'll be writing about this and expressing how happy you are that things worked out the way they did. Can't wait to hear about what comes next for you!
You have the best attitude! Disney will be so much fun for your whole family. Things will work out. Enjoy your time with the kids!
Look! There! Yup, over there! See them? There are millions of doors opening. Pick one.
I love your attitude, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't just the tiniest bit jealous...
Welcome to the Laid Off Club. The tortuous wait part really sucks. I'm glad it's over for you, too.
I hope you have a blast at Disneyland. There's got to be nothing like taking kids there for the first time!
take me take me!!!!
I'm sorry. And I'm happy for you. Disney is awesome. Excellent attitude.
I'm so sorry to hear about your job. However, sometimes it's just a relief to know. To be able to move forward in a certain direction, any direction, and not stay stagnant any more. Here's wishing you the best on your hunt for something new! I hope you find what you're looking for!
ahem! We would love to meet up with you guys. I confess, I have left it to my ex to take her but for you, I would go.
