work with that

On the second night of BlogHer, my true love gave to me – I mean, a group of us decided to get some dinner at the hotel. It was a warm night, so we got a table outside right along the river. We were perusing the offerings on the menu, when our waitress came over to ask us what drinks we wanted. I was feeling indulgent and decided on a chocolate malt.

"We’re out of ice cream", she blankly told me.

Ok, how about a root beer.

"Diet", she asked.

No, regular I replied, still feeling a bit indulgent.

"Diet", she said. "It’s all we have."

My friend, Renee, asked for a glass of white wine, only to find out they were all out of that too.

"And don’t order any salads", she told us, "because we're out of lettuce."

Ok, so let’s approach this from a different angle I though, and asked - What do you have?

“We’ve got burgers and fries. Work with that. I’ll be back.” Then she turned around and walked away.

We should have taken her dam picture. That had to be the funniest thing, the way she said it. Work with that...lol.

I keep saying it to the girls, they don't find it so humerous.

While I'm sorry I didn't get to share that meal with you, I'm not sorry at all that I didn't witness that attitude! Grr. But you all "made it work" so it was good in the end. :-)

So much for Midwestern hospitality!

My friend, Shelley, were at the park on Friday, laughing over your "almost didn't make it home" post. "Now if they'd used my TWITTER name...la la la...get your ass on the plane..." Priceless!

I am assuming that you went somewhere else? What was that all about?

Makes you want to pay the bill with Monopoly money and say, "That's all I have. Work with that!"

You'd think, in this economy, people would be working HARD for their money.

And NOW I'm going to have that damn song in my head.

So did you tackle her ankles and say, "Bring them quick, before they're all gone!?"

This might be my favorite story from all of BlogHer. I've told like ten people. Love it. Love your sense of humor about it.

Yeah, sounds like the easier route there. I'm guessing it was a burger joint and not a fish place you walked into right?

This is hilarious! I used to be a server for a long time and I know that it would have taken a lot of people coming through, a lot of frustration and a lot of other crap before I said that to a table. She had to be just sheer exhausted or just rude.
